Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the company to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months, she exited from the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s first Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on every seasons of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a purchase of $350,000 in Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was the second child in a family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater. Florence, her mother, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. his father was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's early years. The family relied on food delivered by an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran states that her father was a drunken man who did her mother a disservice and disrespect. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling, later learning that she had dyslexia. She went to an area Catholic elementary school and started high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several courses during her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
